ANGELIM-PEDRA (Hymenolobium)
anglim pedra

General Characteristics: light yellowish brown heartwood distinct from the pale brown sapwood, has an accentuated fibrous aspect at the tangential figure due to prominence of axial parenchyma, fibres and vascular lines, interlocked grain, coarse texture , lacking lustre, no distinctive odour.

A few applications: easy to work, civil construction, furniture has good finishing and is very resistant.

Density: medium density wood, at 13% humidity content 785 Kg/m3, when green 1,210 Kg/m3, dry very rapidly.

CEDAR (Cedrela Odorata)
cedar General Characteristics: dark pink heartwood, pale pink sapwood, bitter taste, aromatic odour, wavy grain, moderate lustre or lacking.

A few applications: furniture, plywood, frames, naval constructions, window sashes, very easy to work in sanding, piercing and levelling.

Density: medium density wood, with 13% humidity has 485 Kg/m3, when green has 635 Kg/m3, easy to dry, dry very fast by air and kiln-dry

CHERRY WOOD (Amburana Caerensis)

General Characteristics: aromatic odour and bitter taste, interlocked grain, medium texture, moderate lustre, light yellowish brown heartwood and sapwood.

A few applications: furniture, chairs, decorative articles, cabinet work, doors and others.

Density: medium density wood, with 13% humidity has 610 Kg/m3, green has 895 Kg/m3, easy to dry using kiln-drying, dry slowly by air drying.

CUMARU (Dipteryx Odorata)

General Characteristics: no distinctive odour or taste, brown sapwood, yellowish brown heartwood.

A few applications: in and out constructions, flooring, naval constructions, turning.

Density: heavy wood, with 13% humidity has 1,070 Kg/m3, green has 1,300 Kg/m3, dry very slowly in air-dry and faster using kiln-dry.

A few applications: easy to work, glues well, can uses in furniture, musical instruments, very good for framing.

Density: medium density wood, at 13% humidity content 445 Kg/m3, when green 1,155 Kg/m3, dry fast by air or kiln-drying.

MUIRACATIARA (Astrnium Lecointei)

General Characteristics: dark red stripes, wavy or slightly interlocked grain, moderate lustre, taste and odour distinctive.

A few applications: in and out constructions, very durable, easy to sand, bore, plane, saw, glue, veneer, gives a very good lustrous surface.

Density: heavy wood, with 13% humidity has 945 Kg/m3, green has 1,225 Kg/m3, dry fast by air or kiln-drying.
